Martha Rampton is a professor of history at Pacific University. She received her PhD in medieval history from the University of Virginia in 1998. She teaches courses on the ancient and medieval periods as well as Latin and the history of Islam. She is also co-founder and teacher in the Feminist Studies Program at Pacific University. Dr. Rampton is winner of the Bernadotte Schmitt grant awarded by the American Historical Association, recipient of a research grant from the Western Association of Women Historians and is the author of several articles on medieval subjects. Her book, Magic, Ritual Power, and Women in Early Medieval England, is forthcoming.
