Center for Peace and Spirituality

The Pacific University Center for Peace and Spirituality provides students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful study, reflection and action based on the recognition that inter- and intra-personal peace are inherently connected and that concerns for personal spirituality are intimately related to concerns for one's social, historical, cultural and natural environment.

Working in tandem with other centers and initiatives at Pacific, including the Center for Civic Engagement, the Center for Gender Equity and the Tom McCall Center for Policy Innovation, the Center for Peace and Spirituality strives to bring to life the vision of the university: discovery, excellence, sustainability, diversity and global community.

It works to create a welcoming and safe environment for all students and community members to explore and express their spirituality in a context of inner and societal peace and justice.

The center is connected to existing undergraduate minors in comparative religion and in peace and social justice. Future prospects include broadened academic offerings, such as academic majors and a certificate program in conflict resolution; internship and service opportunities for students; speakers and events on campus; and partnerships with local, regional, national and international organizations with similar missions.
