Katie joined Pacific University as a full-time faculty member in August 2010. She previously worked as a graduate teaching assistant and a graduate research assistant with the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Katie worked as a clinical dental hygienist for two years before returning to school to pursue her master’s degree. She completed a semester-long teaching internship at Virginia Commonwealth University as part of her master’s degree program. Katie’s master’s thesis focused on incorporating oral-systemic evidence into patient care. She received the ADHA/Sigma Phi Alpha 2010 Journalism Award for a manuscript based on her research thesis.
Katie is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. She is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society, holding alumni membership in the Xi chapter.
Katie enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors. She is committed to creating a positive and open learning environment, and encourages her students to participate in professional association activities.
