Stephen Kravitz holds bachelor and master's degrees in instrumental music from California State University, Los Angeles. Stephen has been a private instructor of woodwind instruments for nearly four decades, and he has also taught music at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He has also taught jazz band, chamber music, woodwind methods, and jazz comprehension at the collegiate level.
Stephen is a professional musician and has performed with the Big Bands of Harry James, Louis Bellson, Toshiko-Tabakin, Bill Holman, Jimmy Dorsey, Art Abrams, Woody Hite, and Tony Bennett. He has served as a studio and commercial player for PBS Specials, Rookies, Kojak, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, Grizzly Adams, Donnie and Marie Show, The Mad Bomber, The Thing with Two Heads, Man in the Moon Marigolds, and Hanna-Barbera Productions. Additionally, he has performed classical music with the Oregon Symphony, Portland Symphonic Choir, Portland Festival Symphony, Bassoon Brothers, and the Linfield Chamber Orchestra. Often involved in musicals, Stephen has performed Porgy and Bess, Evita, Chorus Line, Boyfriend, 42nd Street, Grease, Annie Get Your Gun, and Man of La Mancha.
