Alumna Named Oregon School Counselor of the Year

Marinda Peters ’05, MA ‘07 has been named 2014 Oregon School Counselor of the Year by the Oregon School Counselor Association.

Recently featured in the Forest Grove Leader/The Oregonian, Peters is a beloved figure at Fern Hill Elementary School in Forest Grove, where she offers weekly classroom instruction on social topics, such as bullying prevention and conflict resolution. She also works to make connections with new students, shares lunch with youngsters at the school and supervises college interns who provide mental health services for those who need more support.

“This is a job I wanted since I was 10 years old,” Peters told The Leader.
