Boxer Handball Captures National Championships

Pacific University Handball added to its illustrious history at the 64th annual USHA Collegiate National Championships in Minneapolis Feb. 24-28, as the Boxers captured two team championships and an individual doubles title.

Both the Pacific's women's team and the combined team finished first in the A class division. Five Boxers competed in individual finals, with sophomore Angel Marquez and senior Ben Schmid successfully defending their doubles championship in the A class division.

Schmid finished his career as the most decorated individual in Boxer Handball's nearly 40-year history, having won either a team title or an individual title in each of his four years, including three national team championships. Marquez now has three national championships after just two years.

Kylie Martin advanced to the women's A class final and finished 2nd overall, as did Julia Naumes and Teresa Wright in the doubles competition.
