Boxer Love Story: Alyssa (Wollam) Baker '00 and Jeremiah Baker '01

Alyssa and Jeremiah met during her senior year and his junior year.

“You would think on a small campus like Pacific and with mutual friends we would have bumped into each other quite often but that was not the case,” said Alyssa.

Alyssa had heard Jeremiah's name quite often from her friends but had never had the pleasure of meeting him.

At the start of the year, Alyssa and her best friend rented an apartment off campus and Jeremiah and his friends had also rented an apartment off campus. Their roommates happened to be dating so Alyssa and Jeremiah started to get to know each other. Meanwhile a friend of theirs had rented a house with an apple tree in the backyard and Alyssa was asked to make an apple pie with their apples. The word had spread that Alyssa was making apple pies and soon she had several requests for pies.

One special request would change their lives forever...

While sitting at a Boxer soccer game Jeremiah leaned over and asked "When are you going to make me an apple pie?" Alyssa quickly replied with the bold answer of "When are you going to take me to the movies?" He said "Friday" and she replied "Wednesday.” Jeremiah arrived on Wednesday to help make the pie (first sign he was a keeper) and they had a wonderful time on Friday at the movies and the rest is history.

They have been married since 2004 and have two wonderful children.
