Boxer Love Story: Elie Harriett '98 and Janet (Styffe) Harriett '00

The Summer of 2014 will mark 14 years since Elie and Janet were married.

They met as work-study students in the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center's control room.

Elie was swearing at the sound equipment he was setting up for the night's performance, and Janet was trying to figure out how the light board worked.

Between classes, studying and on- and off-campus jobs, they did not have a lot of time for formal dating, so much of their courtship happened in the halls of Taylor-Meade. They got engaged during Winter III, on a day classes were canceled due to snow. Instead of walking two blocks to class, Elie and Janet drove to Tigard to buy a ring. They got married two and a half years later in a low-key courthouse ceremony on July 14, 2000.
