Former PGA Golf Great David Graham Coming to Pacific University Legends

Legendary golfer David Graham, who won two major championships in dramatic fashion during his successful days on the PGA tour, will join Pacific University Legends, hosted by Tommy Thayer on Sun., Aug. 25 at the beautiful and exclusive Waverley Country Club in Portland.

David Graham’s credits include a total of 35 professional wins, including eight on The PGA Tour, five on The Champions Tour and 22 additional titles. He is best remembered for his stunning come-from behind victories in the 1979 PGA Championship at Oakland Hills and the 1981 U.S. Open at Merion. This will be the first time Graham will join other musicians and professional athletes at Pacific University’s signature event.

Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist for the legendary rock band KISS, created and hosted the Legends event beginning in 2007, which has continued to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the university’s 24-sport NCAA Division III athletics program. With each installment, Thayer brings in musicians and professional athletes for an evening of fine dining, silent and live auctions and a live concert.

This year’s celebrity list includes LPGA golfers Amber Prange and Perry Swenson, PGA golf instructor Tommy Masters, and Oregon’s Grammy nominated saxophone jazz musician, Patrick Lamb, two-time Grammy award winning singer-songwriter and keyboardist, Bill Champlin, formerly of Chicago, Danny Seraphine, the original drummer and founding member of Chicago and California Transit Authority (CTA), Bobby Kimball, former lead singer of the six-Grammy award winning band Toto, CTA arranger, producer and keyboardist Ed Roth and legendary rock manager Doc McGhee.

Founded in Oregon in 1849, Pacific University is one of the oldest schools in the west and is consistently named a Best or Top College by The Princeton Review, US News & World Report and Forbes. Pacific University serves nearly 3,500 students on its campuses in Forest Grove, Hillsboro and Eugene.

Legends 2013 begins Sunday evening with a reception, silent auction and dinner presented byPac/West, a leading West Coast public relations and government affairs firm based in Wilsonville.

A live auction follows, and an unforgettable concert presented by Lease Crutcher Lewis caps the festivities. Lewis is a leader in sustainable construction and recently celebrated more than 125 years in business. Lewis has completed many projects in the Pacific Northwest, including a five-story facility for Pacific University to house health professions graduate programs.
