School of Pharmacy Associate Professer Fawzy Elbarbry Publishes Article with Alumna Chau Ong

Pacific University School of Pharmacy Associate Professor Fawzy Elbarbry, RPh, PhD, has published an article in collaboration with 2015 alumna Chau Ong. The article, entitled "A new validated HPLC method for the determination of sulforaphane: application to study pharmacokinetics of sulforaphane in rats” was published in the most recent edition of Biomedical Chromatography.

Sulphoraphane is a compound that has been shown to help prevent certain cancers, and was found by Dr. Elbarby's lab to reduce blood pressure in a hypertension animal model. The technique described in this article is a simpler way to identify how much sulphoraphane is in plasma after adminstering a dietary dose, a potential benefit to future research in the therapeutic uses of this compound. The abstract can be read by following the link below.
