The public is invited to join Pacific University in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 18.
The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with an interfaith service led by Rev. Jennifer Yocum in Old College Hall, followed at 11:15 with a community march from Rogers Park to the university’s Marsh Hall featuring Roots and Shoots Peace Doves.
The celebration continues at noon with a program of music, a keynote address by American Muslim Alliance past president Gulzar Ahmed, and an activity for children - pinwheel making with the local Tom McCall Upper Elementary School Roots and Shoots group for a Students Rebuild effort to aid Syria. Later, attendees will have the opportunity to break bread together while also enjoying soup and beverages.
