Pacific University's London Program at St. Mary's offers students the opportunity to study in Western Europe's most culturally diverse and vibrant capital. London offers a rich historical heritage, world-class theatre, superb museums and art galleries, and easy access to many major European cities. Students can participate for one semester or for a full academic year.
Students will study at St. Mary's College, which is located in Strawberry Hill, a quiet, leafy residential area of West London. St. Mary's, with an enrollment of 2,500 students, is located on a self-contained and picturesque 30-acre campus which includes the noted author and politician Horace Walpole's 18th century estate and mansion. The College is a short walk from Twickenham High Street (a shopping district) and Richmond Park, while London's museums, concert halls, theatres, galleries and nightlife are 30 minutes away by train. London's excellent public transportation system enables students to travel back and forth to the city with ease.
St. Mary's offers degree programs in business law, cultural studies,
drama & performance studies, English, film & television, geography, health & exercise, health, nutrition & exercise, history, human biology, Irish studies, management studies, media arts, nutrition, philosophy, physical theatre, professional & creative writing, psychology, sociology, sport, health & exercise science, sport rehabilitation, sport science, theology & religious studies. St Mary's offerings in the areas of exercise science, sport rehabilitation, and sport science are internationally known, and are widely regarded as some of the best in Britain.
All students take 4 courses per semester from the regular St. Mary's curriculum alongside the British students. They also have the option of taking Britain Transformed: 1790-1990, a course designed especially for visiting students focusing on the political, social and
economic developments that have shaped Britain over the last 200 years.
Students will be housed in homestays located within a short distance of the college. The program cost also includes a daily breakfast at your homestay, and dinner at the St. Mary's College Refectory (i.e. cafeteria), which is open seven days a week during term time and is situated centrally on the campus. It offers a wide range of food, all at reasonable prices, including a daily choice of main meals, vegetarian dishes, hot and cold snacks, burgers and salads.
A London tour is provided in conjunction with the comprehensive on-site orientation program. Two day-long weekend excursions to well-known attractions such as Stratford, Stonehenge and Canterbury are included in the program. Additional excursions will be offered for an additional fee each semester.
