Study Abroad in London, England

London

St. Mary's University

Program Information

Pacific University’s London Program offers students the opportunity to study in Western Europe’s most culturally diverse and vibrant capital.  London offers a rich historical heritage, world-class theatre, superb museums and art galleries, and easy access to many of Europe’s major cities.

Students will study at St. Mary’s University, in Strawberry Hill, a quiet, leafy residential area of West London. St. Mary's has an enrollment of 5,000 students and is located on a self-contained and picturesque 30-acre campus which includes the author Horace Walpole’s 18th century estate and mansion.  St. Mary’s is 30 minutes away by train from London’s museums, concert halls, theatres, galleries and nightlife. Public transportation allows easy and quick access to Central London.

Curriculum

St. Mary’s academic offerings include programs in business, criminology and sociology, education, English, exercise science, film and media, nutrition, history, philosophy, politics and international relations, psychology, and tourism.

Students can participate for one semester or for a full academic year. All students take 3-4 courses per semester (typically earning 4 credits each) from the regular St. Mary’s curriculum alongside British students.  Students also have the option of gaining valuable international workplace experience by enrolling for an internship class (alongside 2-3 regular classes), which will require a 60-80-hour time commitment during the semester.

Housing and Meals

Students will have option of housing in single rooms with bathrooms at the on-campus De Marillac residence hall, or in shared rooms in the nearby Victorian-era Waldegrave Park Houses. A 14-meal plan is included in the cost of both options.  St. Mary's College Refectory is open seven days a week during term time and is situated centrally on the campus. It offers a wide range of food including a daily choice of main meals, vegetarian dishes, hot and cold snacks, burgers and salads. Pacific students will pay room and board costs directly to St. Mary’s.

Student Involvement

St. Mary’s has a wide range of clubs and societies and activities, giving ample opportunity for students to become involved in campus life and make friends with British and other international students.
