2011-2012 Individual Accomplishments

Terry O’Day, Art, was keynote speaker at the NW Permaculture Conference, presenting “Permaculture at the Nexus of Sustainability and Education.” She also:

· Presented “Teachers Teaching Teachers: Preparing Future Educators for a Paradigm Shift” at Village Building Convergence.

· Had her paper, “Intersections: Arts, Sustainability and Education” accepted for publication in the 2011-12 Fate in Review: Foundations in Art; Education and Theory, Volume 31, to be published in April 2013.

· Was selected as a U.S. delegate to Terra Madre, a landmark food and farming conference.

Jeanne Oliver, Cathy Evans, Marcie Brown and Marti Fredericks, all Optometry, joined June Dressler, Career Development Center, and Melodye MacAlpine, Graduate & Professional Student Services, in hosting a business dining class for third-year optometry students, sponsored by Luxottica Retail.

Verna Zehner Ourada, Physical Therapy, presented her research, “Health Outcome of Parent vs. Adult Child Caregivers,” at the National Council for Family Relations’ annual conference in Florida in November 2011. She also presented a poster, “Women Negotiate Their Health Choices Around Family Responsibilities,” with several co-authors at the annual Oregon Physical Therapy Association conference in Portland.
