Pacific is the first university in Oregon to partner with local community to provide community service during orientation. The event is called, "Sprucing Up the Grove"

Built in 1912 by the Carnegie Endowment, the Carnegie Hall Library is the only academic Carnegie library located in the Pacific Northwest and only one of three academic Carnegie libraries in the West.

Pacific´s MFA in Writing program is rated as one of the top five low-residency programs by Atlantic Monthly and is the first in the Pacific Northwest.

The new multi-million dollar Lincoln Park features a separate stadium for each sport: track, baseball and softball. The project is a collaboration between Pacific University and the City of Forest Grove, home to the world´s largest barber pole (now prominently visible from Lincoln Park).


The Clinical Psychology program's Forensic track is the only such training program in Oregon.

Pacific University is named a "Best Value" institution in 2008 by U.S. News & World Report; "Best Western College" by The Princeton Review, and a "Best Buy" by Barron´s. Promoted to the National University category in the U.S. News rankings this year, Pacific was compared to institutions such as Harvard, Cornell, Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins. Ranking is based on 15 categories, including peer assessment, graduation and retention rate, class size, student/faculty ratio, financial resources and alumni giving.

Pacific University's College of Education is the only college in Oregon with a Center for Gifted Education and to offer certificates in cultural competency and talented and gifted studies.

Pacific's chapter of National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) received a number of regional awards, including "Of the Month" awards and "School of the Year".

The Pacific University Fieldhouse, built in 1970, was the first athletic facility specifically built as an indoor practice facility for outdoor sports. The Fieldhouse predates facilities now in place at most larger colleges and is one of only a handful of such facilities among small colleges in the West.

Burlingham Hall is the first “gold” rated LEED-certified green residential building in the country. It is one of the first buildings on the west coast to achieve this "gold" rating.

A film first in September 2007, Stolen Again, was created in the Pacific University Media Arts Department under the mentorship of Erik Fauske. It will be screening along with 18 other Portland area shorts at Living Room Theaters in Portland
