Pacific Hall Update | Week of Dec. 8

Finish work continued the week of Dec. 8 as spaces are begin to become ready for pre-punch cleaning towards the end of this week and into early next. Ceiling tile was installed throughout the building, and concrete floor polishing is tracking ahead of schedule on Level 2. Cleaning begins next week on Level 2 as final finish tasks like installing window shades get underway, before punch the following week.

Downstairs, the art gallery floors were polished during the early part of the week. Rough clean is underway on the south half of LevPacific Hall renovationel 1 as painting begins to wind down. Flooring at the CLIC was set this week, and remaining carpet and base install is ongoing through the end of the week. Pre-punch cleaning on Level 1 is set to begin next week. Outside, the new railing at the main entry has been set, and remaining brick seal on the west and south faces resumes Dec. 13. Punch walk dates have been set for the week of Dec. 18. Corrective work identified during punch and any last minute adds and touch up work will be completed during the final week of December and into the first few days of January.

This week, UIS also began reconnecting wireless access points and hanging TV mounts and monitors. Lightwerks finished installing overhead equipment and will return in early January to complete the remainder of the AV install. Walsh is beginning to clean furniture stored in the building and move items back to their spaces in bulk during final clean activities over the next two weeks. Priority Movers will be on-site during mid-January to assist with moving remaining furniture, set up furniture in each space, and assist faculty and staff with setting up their spaces. New furniture for the new computer labs, classrooms, pods, conference room and common spaces will be moved in during the week of January 15. Furniture will be arriving at the vendor’s warehouse throughout the month of December. We are still targeting the final two weeks of January for full move-in, final setup and testing of classroom tech, and final cleaning.

The project remains on schedule as we move into the final weeks of the construction phase. The final inspection process is underway as we continue tracking towards substantial completion and TCO by Wednesday, Jan. 10, and remain on track for opening by Monday, Jan. 29.

Site & Exterior Work

  • The new railing at the main entry was set this week.
  • Brick seal resumes next week, scheduled for completion on the west and south faces by Dec. 13.
  • Exterior punch is scheduled for Dec. 22.

Interior Finishes, Level 2

  • Acoustic ceiling panels have been installed throughout Level 2.
  • Glazing film will be complete by Dec. 8.
  • Concrete floor polishing is ongoing on Level 2 this week. This work is tracking ahead of schedule, targeting end of week to complete all polishing on Level 2. Level 2 polishing is scheduled for completion by Dec. 15.
  • Window coverings will be installed by Dec. 12.
  • Pre-punch cleaning begins Dec. 11.
  • Punch walks are scheduled for Dec. 18 and19.
  • Backpunch work will take place from Dec. 20 to 29.
  • Signage will be installed on Jan. 3 and 4.
  • Post-backpunch cleaning and final walks will take place during the week of Jan. 2, targeting turnover by  Jan. 8.

Interior Finishes, Level 1

  • The art gallery floors were polished Dec.  4 and 5. Pacific hall remodel art gallery
  • Rough clean took place in Zone 2 this week through Dec. 6.
  • Remaining electrical trim was completed over the course of this week.
  • Flooring patch back and rubber base install is being completed throughout Level 1, targeting end of day Friday, Dec. 8 for completion.
  • Acoustic ceiling panels are being installed this week, targeting end of day Friday, Dec. 8 to set all ceiling tiles.
  • Interior stair handrails were set, prepped, and painted this week.
  • Pre-punch cleaning begins continues through Dec. 12.
  • Window coverings will be installed on Dec. 12.
  • Remaining fire sprinkler trim in Zone 2 will be completed by Dec. 14.
  • Level 1 punch walks are scheduled for Dec. 20 and 21.
  • Backpunch work will take place from Dec. 21 to 29.
  • Signage will be installed Jan. 3 and 4.
  • Post-backpunch cleaning and final walks will take place during the week of Jan. 2, targeting turnover by Friday, Jan. 5

Entry & Lobby

  • Remaining electrical trim and light fixture install at the main entry and lobby was completed over the course of this week, targeting end of day Dec. 8 for completion.
  • The wood plinth at the main stair is being refinished Dec. 7 and 8.
  • Acoustic ceiling panels at the lobby are being installed Dec. 7 and 8.
  • Remaining storefront installation tasks including remaining access control wiring and programming will be completed during the week of Dec. 11.
  • Concrete floors in the lobby will be polished from Dec. 11 to 14.
  • Carpet, walk-off mat, and rubber base install will immediately follow polishing between Dec. 14–18.
  • Lobby punch is scheduled for Dec. 22.
  • Backpunch work will take place from Dec. 26 to 29.
  • Post-backpunch cleaning and final walks will take place during the week of Jan. 2, targeting turnover by Jan. 8.

New Restrooms

  • Concrete floors in the new restrooms were polished on Dec. 4 and 5.
  • Final cleaning will continue through Dec. 12.
  • Restroom punch will occur during punch walks on each level during the week of Dec. 18.
  • Backpunch work will take place from Dec. 19 to 29.
  • Post-backpunch cleaning and final walks will take place during the week of  Jan. 2, targeting turnover by Jan. 8.

Existing L1 Restrooms

  • Epoxy floor coating in the existing L1 restrooms has been ongoing over the course of this week. This work is scheduled to continue through Dec. 11.
  • Remaining MEP trim will be completed by Dec. 14.
  • Remaining wall tile will be completed by Dec. 13.
  • New partitions and accessories will be installed from Dec. 18 to 21.
  • Final clean and owner punch will take place on Dec. 21.
  • Backpunch work will take place from Dec. 22 to Jan. 3.
  • Post-backpunch cleaning and final walks will take place during Jan. 4 and 5, targeting turnover by jan. 8.

Owner Activities & Move Transition

  • Xtreme Communications completed remaining low-voltage trim last week.
  • UIS began installing wireless access points on Dec. 6.
  • UIS began hanging mounts and monitors in existing classroom spaces on both levels this week.
  • Lightwerks completed install of overhead AV equipment prior to ceiling tile install. They will return to the building the week of Jan. 8 to complete the remainder of the AV install.

Upcoming Events, Holidays, and Campus Coordination

  • Winter Break (Students) – Dec. 14 – Jan. 1. Faculty and staff will be on campus through Dec. 21. The project will remain active Dec. 14-22.
  • Christmas Day – Dec. 25 - The project will be inactive on Christmas Day.
  • Dec. 26–29 – Campus closed. Construction activities will proceed as usual on these dates.
  • New Year’s Day – Jan. 1 - The project will be inactive on New Year’s Day.
  • Winter Term Begins – Tuesday, Jan. 2. Classes resume and campus offices reopen.
