School of Pharmacy: Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows Attend ASBMB Annual Meeting

CongrASBMB Meetingatulations to our Pacific University School of Pharmacy Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows Kalyssa Kleinschmit '23, Kat Le '23, and Kayhan Karimi, who presented their research at DiscoverBMB, the 2023 annual meeting for the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), which had close to 2,500 attendees and was held in Seattle in March.  

Their posters entitled, "Establishing the role for a putative dioxygenase in the stress response mechanism of Leishmania donovani," by Kalyssa Kleinschmit, Samira Elikaee, & Nicola S. Carter and "Investigating the effect of polyamine starvation on Leishmania nuclear DNA and mitochondira," by Kat Le, Kayhan Karimi, Surbhi Nahata, Jon Taylor, and Sigrid C. Roberts, were presented to a diverse array of researchers, educators, and students that attended the meeting from across the country and globe.

Many thanks to the faculty mentors, Dr. Nicola Carter (who attended the meeting) and Dr. Sigrid Roberts for their support of these students, as well as to the other Pacific University School of Pharmacy researchers who contributed to this research. Attendance at this meeting and support for this research was provided by Pacific University, the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), and the National Institutes of Health [R15AI151980].
