Pacific University's 17th President
Dr. Lesley Hallick
Dr. Lesley M. Hallick comes to Pacific University from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) after a 20-year tenure as the chief academic officer.
Dr. Hallick has a long history of commendations for her work with students and the communities she has served. She serves on boards for Northwest Health Foundation, Oregon Historical Society, and Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute. Throughout her tenure at OHSU, Hallick has developed a reputation of building partnerships in and out of the university, developing and improving upon new and existing programs of study, and garnering internal and external support for programs and partnerships.
With over 20 years' experience in academic leadership in the Portland area, Dr. Hallick’s background championing equality, environmental stewardship, and philanthropy make her an ideal leader to tell the Pacific story and advance a 160-year tradition of success in Arts and Sciences, and innovation in healthcare and education graduate programs.
Dr. Hallick graduated from Orange High School in Orange, California in 1963. She earned her B.A. from Pomona College in 1967—where she graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa—and her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 1972 from University of Wisconsin.
Among her honors and fellowships, Dr. Hallick received a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship (1967); Wisconsin Alumni Research Fellowship (1968-69); Postdoctoral Fellowships from the American Cancer Society (1972-73), Damon Runyon (1974-75) and NIH (1975-77). While at OHSU, Dr. Hallick worked as Assistant, Associate, and full Professor. In 1989, she was named OHSU Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the role of Provost was added in 1993.
Dr. Hallick will begin serving as Pacific President on August 1, 2009, succeeding Dr. Phillip Creighton, who has served as Pacific President since 2003.
