Pacific Receives $375,000 Grant

In July of 1998 Pacific University was awarded a $375,000 grant from the Hewlett Foundation. Pacific was awarded the grant for professors to create an "active learning community."

"To receive a grant of this scope and size from a national foundation is a great accomplishment," President Faith Gabelnick said. "We now have resources to support institution-wide faculty development."

Under the proposed faculty development program, as many as 20 faculty members will be named Hewlett Fellows each year and will direct as many as eight projects intended to foster collaborations, teaching innovations, and active learning across the University curriculum.
