Activities

The grant would facilitate the following activities:

  • Expert consultants would be brought to campus where appropriate.
  • Proposals for new initiatives would be generated for the board overseeing the program, and six to eight programs would be funded each year. The project would provide released time for faculty to collaborate in establishing new approaches, to implement those approaches and to assess their efficacy.
  • All participants would be expected to share their findings with their collegues, and to develop a community of teaching expertise, encouraging further collaborations.
  • In addition, the School of Education's Resouce Center for future teachers would be expanded to include resources for all University faculty, acting as a repository for materials developed in all Hewlett projects. Thus the focus on pedagogical excellence and innovation brought about by the grant would continue after the three-year program has ended.
