College of Optometry Interview Day
The College of Optometry at Pacific University will host the mandatory, on-campus admissions interviews during Fall and Spring Interview Days. Interview Days are full day events where prospective students will be introduced to College of Optometry students, staff and faculty. The day will include lunch with faculty, a detailed campus tour (including the Forest Grove clinic) by student Ambassadors, the opportunity to sit in on a class, and a chance to mingle with faculty and staff at an end of the day dessert reception. Throughout the day, each attendee will also have his or her one hour admissions interview.
It is imperative that applicants plan ahead so that they are able to attend an Interview Day. After a complete application is received, it takes approximately 3 weeks for the Admissions Committee to determine if an applicant will be invited to interview. This timeline can help serve as a guideline for applicants arranging work and personal schedules.
All Interview Days for Fall 2008 entry will be posted August 1, 2007.
New Opportunity!!! Attend the Great Western Council of Optometry Conference with Pacific University!!
Those applicants whose complete application is received by September 20, 2007, will have the opportunity to be invited to our first Interview Day, scheduled for Friday, October 12. This Interview Day is unique because Pacific University will sponsor all the Interview Day applicants at the following Saturday’s Great Western Council of Optometry (GWCO) meeting. This national meeting is held in Portland each year, and Pacific students attend annually. It is an excellent networking opportunity, and for applicants, an opportunity to experience what being an optometry student is really like at Pacific University.
Pacific University will provide transportation to and from the GWCO Conference and free Saturday admission to the conference events for Interview Day participants.
This is the first year we are offering this opportunity, so if you are interested in this one-time experience, be sure to have your complete application submitted by September 20!
