Preparing To Apply

Its a Pacific Thing

SEPTEMBER

  • Talk with your guidance counselor, call our office, or check out our website (www.pacificu.edu) to find out when a Pacific Representative may be in your area for a high school visit or a college fair.
  • Make sure you check the registration dates for the SAT I and/or ACT exams in order to meet the deadlines for registration.
  • Think about a good time and date to visit the campus this fall.
  • Complete a resume of school and community service activities, projects, awards, and participation. You will want to send this with your application for admissions and scholarship applications during the coming months.

 

OCTOBER

  • Begin working on your application.
  • Begin applying for outside funding and scholarships.
  • Request that your counselor(s) send a recommendation form to the Office of Admissions.
  • Call two weeks in advance to set up a visit to the campus if you haven't already.

 

NOVEMBER

  • Make sure all of your SAT I and/or ACT scores have been sent to Pacific University. Our school code for SAT is 4601 and for the ACT it is 3488.
  • Complete your application essay.
  • Get a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from your guidance counselor or download it from the web.

 

DECEMBER

  • Complete your application online or mail to:

  • Request your seventh semester transcripts be sent to Pacific. Please make sure they are official transcripts in a sealed envelope sent directly from your school.
  • Continue applying for outside funding and scholarships.
  • Begin the FAFSA form and have it ready to mail or transmit as soon after January 1 as possible.

 

JANUARY

  • Submit your completed FAFSA to the processor as soon after January 1 as possible. Keep a copy of the completed form for your files.
  • Make sure your application is complete (application fee, essay, letters of recommendation, official transcripts, and official SAT I and/or ACT test scores.)
  • Call and set up a campus visit if you haven't done so already.
  • Talk to your admissions counselor about academic qualifications for Pacific's Pacesetter Scholarship Competition.

 

FEBRUARY

  • February 15 is the preferred application deadline.
  • Make sure your FAFSA has been mailed.
  • Ask your guidance counselor about Advanced Placement (AP) examination dates and registration.
  • Call the Office of Admissions for information on tickets to the annual Tom McCall Forum held in Portland.

 

MARCH

  • Watch for the results of your FAFSA. It will arrive as the Student Aid Report (SAR). If you need to make corrections, do so right away to avoid a delay in processing your financial aid.

 

APRIL

  • Pacific University financial aid awards should be mailed very soon.
  • Call your admissions counselor or the financial aid office with any questions about your financial aid offer.
  • Accept your financial aid award by signing the Conditions of Financial Aid Award and Acceptance Form and send it to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Sign and mail the Admissions Confirmation Agreement, along with the $200 enrollment deposit and housing application to Pacific to confirm your place in the next entering class.

 

MAY

  • Make sure your deposit, housing application, and Confirmation Agreement are submitted by May 1 so you will receive your room assignment and Orientation schedule in the coming months.
  • Talk to your admissions counselor about registering for classes.
  • Return any loan applications and other financial aid documents sent to you by the financial aid office for processing.
  • Make sure your high school will send your final transcripts (including graduation date) to the Office of Admissions.
  • After you pay your deposit, you will receive a Student Health Form that should be returned to us as soon as it's ready.
