About Forest Grove

Downtown Forest Grove

Forest Grove is . . .

  • a city of about 20,000 people
  • 40 minutes west of downtown Portland (population 1,500,000)
  • a “College Town,” because Pacific University is so important in the life of the city
  • a town where many people work at Pacific University
  • an easy place to meet people and make friends
  • an easy place to get around without a car
  • a great place for families
  • 45 minutes from the ocean
  • 70 minutes from Mt. Hood

Weather

Forest Grove is mild all year. Summers are dry and not too hot. Winters are
cool and wet, but not cold. We have 4 seasons but we usually don’t get snow
in Forest Grove. Nearby Mt. Hood gets a lot of snow in winter. It is a great
place for skiing.

Some people say Oregon is very rainy. But in fact, many cities including New
York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, and
Seattle all get more rain than Portland or Forest Grove.
