Student Housing

Why Live on Campus?

Students who live on campus usually get better grades, make more friends, and are more positive about their college experience compared with students who live off campus!

On-Campus Residence Hall (dormitory)

We have 3 residence halls on campus. Each one has a live-in resident director (RD), resident assistant (RA) and academic assistant. Usually two students share each room. Some halls have private bathrooms and some have shared bathrooms. All rooms are furnished and have internet and wi-fi connections. All halls have kitchens, laundry rooms, recreation rooms, and vending machines. The outside doors are always locked and for security. Students chose from several different meal plans. Students out of high school less than two years are required to live in residence halls.

On-Campus Apartment

We have 2 University-owned apartment buildings on campus for students who want a more independent lifestyle. All rooms are furnished and have internet and wi-fi connections. Each unit has between 2 and 6 bedrooms, one living room, and 1 or 2 bathrooms. The building has a kitchen, laundry room, recreation room, and vending machines. The resident director is available 24 hours per day. The outside doors are always locked for security. Only sophomores, juniors, or seniors can live here. Students can choose from several different meal plans.

OFF CAMPUS HOUSING IS AVAILABLE FOR OLDER OR MARRIED STUDENTS

Community Homestay

We use a non-profit organization to arrange homestays for our students. Please apply directly at www.andeo.org. You will have a furnished, private room and will share bathrooms, living rooms, kitchen, and meals with the host family. Students are expected to follow family rules and talk with the family as much as possible. The monthly fee includes meals.

Private, Off-Campus Apartments

These are not owned by Pacific University but are very close to campus. We can help you find this kind of housing after you arrive in Oregon (but not before you arrive). Usually, there is a 6-month minimum stay. Some apartments are furnished and some utilities are included in the price. The average cost is $450-600 per month. This housing choice is best for students over 21 years old. No meal service is available.

Public Transportation

The Forest Grove-Portland area has an excellent system of public trains and buses. It is one of the best systems in the United States. Students can buy a pass for $40 per month. With this pass, you can ride any train or bus, any distance, as often as you like.
