Some Americans still have the dream of experiencing "untouched" or "pristine wilderness," and Fromm came closer to that ideal than most people would venture. He lived for extended periods of time alone and survived with minimal outside intrusion. He provides a venue for others to live vicariously through his experiences that winter.
