Special Education Endorsement
The Special Education Endorsement Program allows individuals who hold a current teaching lisence to add a Special Education Endorsement with Early Childhood/Elementary (ECE/Elem) and/or Middle School/High School (MS/HS) authorizations.
Candidates may include:
- Teachers with a bachelor's or master's degree in teaching who want to obtain their Continuing Teaching License
- Teachers on a restricted transitional license who are the teacher of record in a special educaiton classroom
- General educators who would like to become special educators
The program entails 17 months of coursework and practicum experiences. Requirements include Woodcock Johnson III workshop and one work sample, with an emphasis on specially designed instruction in accordance with TSPC regulations. Candidates also may work toward a master of arts in teaching or master of education degree concurrently.
Candidates must pass the NES Special Education test for licensure, as well as the ORELA Multiple Subjects Exam to be considered highly qualified.
