Exercise Science is fundamentally the study of human movement.

As the name implies, our discipline involves improving and/or maintaining physical fitness for ourselves and others, but it's much more than that. Our unique repertoire of movement habits and capabilities are essential to what it means to be human. Our program is recognized as an excellent springboard to advanced clinical training in numerous healthcare fields, many of which are offered at Pacific University. In addition, other graduates pursue additional education leading to teaching certifications or advanced academic study in the field, and many jump right into careers in fitness and other applied settings.

Off Campus Summer Research Opportunity in the Natural Sciences

The following is a listing of off-campus summer undergraduate research opportunities, typically for the summer between your junior and senior year. These are usually paid positions (a general stipend ranging from $2000- $5000) and typically run 8-10 weeks in length. Room, board, and travel expenses are variable. They are opportunities to work in a research lab at state universities, private universities, government labs, and private corporation laboratories. Opportunities exist across the country and are a great way to get valuable research experience, both to list on your curriculum vita and to help you determine if you are interested in a career in research.

This list shows programs available nationwide. Contact Chemistry Department faculty members if you are interested in one or more. These opportunities are competitive and have application deadlines ranging from late November to February and early March.
