Elizabeth Klinger (Instructor: Acting, Eco-Theatre and Applied Theatre) is a director, educator, and performer from Philadelphia.  Since arriving in Portland she co-founded the Tightrope Theatre Company, for which she recently played the role of Nanny in The Happy Family. In  2011, Elizabeth was honored to receive both an Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical and an Outstanding Ensemble Drammy award for her work with Staged! Musical Theatre/Miracle Theatre’s co-production, Songs for a New World


Elizabeth has worked closely with Many Hats Collaboration, performing as Bridget in Find Me Beside You, and adapting and directing Ann Patchett’s memoir Truth and Beauty as part of the Fertile Ground Festival 2010. She has also worked with Oregon Children’s Theatre, Portland Center Stage, and many other local companies, and last spring she directed Karin Magaldi’s updated translation of A Doll’s House at Pacific University. 


Before coming to Pacific Elizabeth taught at Rutgers University, Cumberland County College, and the Universidad Autonoma de Hidalgo in Mexico City, where she worked as an artist-in-residence.  She holds an MFA in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre from The Dell'Arte International School, and has performed with the Dell'Arte Company across the Pacific Northwest.
