WHY I STUDY SOCIAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT?

A good mentor once told me to study the thing I loved the most. On most days that thing is football (soccer); on others, leadership and management. Some days it’s the intersection of movies and culture, some ethics and morality. You get the picture! But on every day I enjoy reading journal articles, conference papers, pop fiction, newspaper articles, books, blogs, you name it! The question was: how do I know what information is valid, reliable, and useful? The bigger question: how can I use it wisely? My training in research, evaluation, and measurement allows me to take a wide variety of literature and answer these questions so that my students and my players benefit in the classroom, on the field, and in life.
