Matthew B. Zrebski (Instructor: Acting) is a founding member of Playwrights West and a multi-award winning playwright, composer, script consultant, teaching artist, and producer-director. His career has been defined by new play development.

Matt has served as Artistic Director of Youth Could Know Theatre, Theatre Atlantis, and Stark Raving Theatre.  Many of his plays and musicals have been produced, including Hunger, Darkstep and Dawning, The Vespiary, and Ablaze: an a cappella musical thriller. He penned the Oregon Children’s Theatre touring production of Texting the Sun, and of 1 ½, which was featured in the 2011 One Theatre World Conference.

Matt has been featured multiple times in JAW: A Playwrights Festival, most recently with the commissioned short play, Big Sis.  He is the Resident Teaching Artist at Portland Center Stage, teaching playwriting, directing, musical theatre, and acting.

Outside of the arts, Matt is an obsessive fan of tennis, and enjoys collecting bizarre toys, a result of an absurd sense of humor.  He tries to live up to the Shunryu Suzuki-Roshi motto:  “In the beginner’s mind there are endless possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.”  Matt holds a BFA from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
