Study Abroad in Swansea, Wales

Curriculum

At the beginning of the program, students will enroll in an intensive two and a half week mini-course, British Culture and Politics, which will to introduce students to the forces which have shaped Britain's social and political development since 1945. Special emphasis will be placed on the regional distinctiveness of Wales. The course will also serve as an ongoing orientation to the British university system, helping students to understand what is expected of them academically and preparing to succeed in regular classes. Syllabus includes 2-3 field trips to places of cultural interest. This mini-course is awarded 10 Swansea credits, which typically converts to 3 US semester credits.For the remainder of the program, participants will select additional classes from the standard Swansea University curriculum, earning 12-16 semester credits, depending on the classes selected.

Optional internships are also available in a variety of fields including
media, business and marketing, health sciences, journalism, local government, and law. Placements in science and engineering can also be arranged on request. Internships will typically substitute for one regular course and usually convert to 3 US semester credits. Internship placements require a commitment of 100 hours and completion of a 2500 word photo essay.
