Biography
| Brian Casey has been involved in bass performance and education in the Portland Metro area for over 20 years. His versatility and reliability are evidenced by the breadth of musical relationships he has fostered over the years with artists and groups including, but not limited to Pink Martini, Conjunto Alegre, Nicotine, Mel Brown, Jon Pugh, Portland Civic Theatre, Akbar DePriest, the Music Population Orchestra, Palante, Robert ‘Rude’ Brown, Jon Newton, Andre Kitaev, Latin Expression (Seattle), Blue Honey, Carl Smith and the Natural Gas Company, members of Tin Hat Trio, Joni Harms, Bazuka Jazz, Barrio Latino, The Tony Del Mar Show, Don Lanphere, Pojama People ( Frank Zappa Reperatory fronted by Ike Willis) Martha Schuyler Thompson, Tony Pacini, Musical Theater |
Company, George Mitchell, Higher Ground, Portland Center for the Performing Arts and many more.
Brian has performed at many of the premium venues in the Northwest and Northern California, including Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Memorial Coliseum, Roseland Theatre, The Satyricon, Crocodile Café (Seattle), Great American Music Hall (S.F.), The Britt Festival (Jacksonville), WOW Hall (Eugene), the Bite of Portland, ArtQuake, The Rose Festival among many others.
Brian has also been an adjunct faculty member at Portland Community College, Mt Hood Community College and currently at Pacific University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in his youth. He has also worked with a high school honor ensemble as Orchestra Facilitator for Pacific’s Music in May festival. Brian has managed and supervised the Clackamas Community College Jazz Festival and Vocal Jazz Festival and performed with the Mt Hood Jazz Festival Vocal Jazz Group. He has also taught privately through Portland Music Co., Old Town Music and through his own private teaching studio throughout the past 15 years.
