Program Highlights
The major in sociology is designed to provide basic knowledge of the development, structure and function of human groups and societies. Through our course work we provide students with analytical perspectives for the systematic understanding of human social and cultural existence; research skills in quantitative and qualitative methods; and increased skills in reading, writing and oral expression.
The sociology program contributes to a liberal education and prepares students for graduate school and professional employment, in which an appreciation of cultural diversity and cross-cultural understanding are essential.
We welcome your interest in sociology and encourage you to take a few minutes to explore our course offerings and meet our faculty. The links to the left should help you with your initial investigation.
