Limited Prep Events

 

Extemporaneous Speaking is an original speech based on a question of current events nationally or internationally. Thirty (30) minutes prior to the speech, the competitor will draw three question and pick one of those three to deliver a speech on. The competitor will then use research materials they have available to them to comprise a seven (7) minute speech. During the speech the competitor will receive time signals from the judge.

 

Impromptu Speaking is an original speech based on a quotation. The quotation could deal with general interest, political, economic or social issues. The competitor will (usually) have two (2) or three (3) quotations to choose from. Once chosen, the competitor will have seven (7) minutes in which to prepare and deliver their speech. During the speech the competitor will receive time signals from the judge.
