INTERVIEW AND AUDITION PROCEDURES

For information on the Bay Area Talent Scholarship Day in Concord, California, in February 2013, please see http://www.pacificu.edu/admissions/events/talentauditionday.cfm.  After registering for an appointment, download and complete the Theatre application form and bring it to your signed interview time.  If you plan to audition (as well as interview), prepare your audition material as directed below.

THEATRE
Students are welcome to schedule an appointment during the following time:

3:30-6:00 PM on Saturday, February 16

IF YOU PLAN TO VISIT CAMPUS BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND APRIL OF 2013 (other than the dates above), please contact Dr. Ellen Margolis (margolis@pacificu.edu) to arrange an interview and audition.

If you are an actor (even if you have other interests as well), please prepare at least one monologue of 1-2 minutes in length from a contemporary play.  If you wish, you may also prepare and perform a second, contrasting monologue of the same length.  All students applying in Theatre, whether auditioning or not, will participate in an interview of approximately 10 minutes.

DANCE:  There will be two opportunities to audition:

Sunday, February 10, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and

Saturday, February 16, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

If you are not able to make one of those slots, you may submit a video audition.*

Come prepared in appropriate dance attire: Women -  leotard or unitard, black or pink tights, ballet slippers, hair pulled back off your face; be prepared to dance barefoot.  Men - close fitting dance clothes, dance belt, fitted t-shirt, ballet slippers; be prepared to dance barefoot.

Please prepare a solo in the style of your choice, 2 minutes or less.  This might be an excerpt from a dance you have performed or learned in class.  The audition will begin with a ballet/contemporary technique class, including warm-up and across-the-floor work. After that, you will perform your solo, and then a final improvisation study will be given.

*Video auditions: Please send either a VHS tape or (preferred) DVD representing 2-4 minutes or your dancing, in any style. The dance may be solo or group work, as long as you are clearly featured. Tapes and DVDs must be clearly labeled with your name, address, and email, and should be sent to:
