Pacific University Talent Scholarship Competition Theatre & Dance Students who qualify for Theatre & Dance Talent Scholarships receive $2500 each year, for up to $10,000 during four years at Pacific (provided they remain involved in the programs). INTERVIEW AND AUDITION PROCEDURES DANCE: There will be two opportunities to audition--Sunday, February 12, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM; and Saturday, February 18, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. If you are not able to make one of those slots, you may submit a video audition.* Come prepared in appropriate dance attire: Women - leotard or unitard, black or pink tights, ballet slippers, hair pulled back off your face; be prepared to dance barefoot. Men - close fitting dance clothes, dance belt, fitted t-shirt, ballet slippers; be prepared to dance barefoot. Please prepare a solo in the style of your choice, 2 minutes or less. This might be an excerpt from a dance you have performed or learned in class. The audition will begin with a ballet/contemporary technique class, including warm-up and across-the-floor work. After that, you will perform your solo, and then a final improvisation study will be given. *Video auditions: Please send either a VHS tape or (preferred) DVD representing 2-4 minutes or your dancing, in any style. The dance may be solo or group work, as long as you are clearly featured. Tapes and DVDs must be clearly labeled with your name, address, and email, and should be sent to Jennifer Camp, Director of Dance, Pacific University Box 680, Forest Grove, OR 97116.
THEATRE 4:30-6:00 PM on Sunday, February 12 or 4:30-6:00 PM on Saturday, February 18. IF YOU PLAN TO VISIT CAMPUS BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND APRIL OF 2012 (other than the dates above), please contact Dr. Ellen Margolis (margolis@pacificu.edu) to arrange an interview and audition. If you are an actor (even if you have other interests as well), please prepare at least one monologue of 1-2 minutes in length from a contemporary play. If you wish, you may also prepare and perform a second, contrasting monologue of the same length. All students applying in Theatre, whether auditioning or not, will participate in an in interview of approximately 10 minutes. |
