Curriculum

The Audiology program will use an innovative block curriculum with electronic and clinical simulations for the enhancement of learning. This fits with the mission of the University to distinguish us in new pedagogy.

We are committed as part of our mission to develop healthcare programs that serve underserved communities and improve the lives of those in our region. The Audiology program will serve underserved clients in the Audiology Clinic, which will support the development of a diverse student body.

Year 1. The first year will provide the foundation necessary for the practice of audiology. Classes and practicum will focus on the basic knowledge and skills necessary to complete a basic audiological evaluation and implement a basic intervention plan.

Year 2. The second year will see a much more focused curriculum with students spending most of their class time in concentrated specialty blocks. Practicum experiences for this year will involve general service placements along with focused rotations to help provide mastery in the specific clinical practice areas to be addressed.

Year 3. The primary focus of year three is the full-time clinical placement. Each term the students will also be involved in a seminar focused on addressing professional practice issues and case study presentations. As some students can expect to be placed in practicum setting outside of the area, this seminar will be conducted online.
