Remembering the Columbus Day Storm of 1962

Photo courtsey of The Oregonian.

Oct. 12 marked the 50th anniversary of The Columbus Day Storm.

In an article from Sept. 13, The Oregonian brought back some haunting memories for some.

The editors searched it's archives and found a collection of photos that shows the damage and destruction that this powerful wind storm caused. Visit The Oregonian webpage to see photos and accounts of people all over state including under the oaks of Pacific University.

The photo above has the caption: "'Under the oaks' was more than campus phrase for Pacific University student Whitney Brown, O.D. '66 on Friday. He found his car under two of them on the Forest Grove campus.

What do you remember in the wake of the Columbus Day Storm?

Submit your memories to alumni@pacificu.edu and we will compile them into a guest blog for the Boxer and Badger Notes Blog. Or write your own guest blog of memories and pictures and we will post it for you!

Submissions accepted until Nov. 15, 2012. Questions or requests for assistance can be directed to the Office of Alumni Relations at 503-352-2057 or alumni@pacificu.edu.
