Silent Art Auction for Childhood Cancer Research

Alumni Room (University Center)

Silent art auction proceeds will go to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which promotes childhood cancer research

Facts about Childhood Cancer

This silent auction is being held to fundraise for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to researching pediatric cancers and helping children and their families. ALSF has funded many research projects aimed at finding prevention methods, causes and cures for childhood cancers, and we would like to be a part of that goal with your help.

The organization began as a lemonade stand run by a little girl named Alex at the age of 8 for who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She held the lemonade stand to try and raise money for other children who were diagnosed with cancer.

She unfortunately was unable to beat her disease, but her family began this foundation in her honor to support childhood cancer patients.

Childhood cancer specifically is a significant problem, as about 1 in every 330 children under 20 are diagnosed. Despite this fact however, less than five percent of government funding towards cancer research goes towards this demographic.

There will be art for auction and other donation options will be available. For the art auction, checks are preferred. If there are any questions please feel free to contact Josiah Hanson at or Renae Bertrand at
