Silent Auction Benefits Kids with Cancer

University Center | Alumni Room

Stop by the alumni room and bid on some cool stuff. The dollars will go for cancer research and your support can make a difference.

Friday April 4, silent art auction in the Alumni Room from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The auction is raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation which is dedicated to furthering childhood cancer research and supporting those who are currently dealing with a childhood cancer and their families.

The organization began as a lemonade stand run by a little girl named Alex at the age of 8 for who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She held the lemonade stand to try and raise money for other children who were diagnosed with cancer.

She unfortunately was unable to beat her disease, but her family began this foundation in her honor to support childhood cancer patients.

Childhood cancer specifically is a significant problem, as about 1 in every 330 children under 20 are diagnosed. Despite this fact however, less than five percent of government funding towards cancer research goes towards this demographic.
