Life after College

Step One: Plan Your Retirement!

Financial Stability in Unstable Times

Young people are entering a world that is rapidly changing, both economically and politically, and that will offer up many challenges not experienced by previous generations. One of the largest challenges they face will be maintaining financial stability throughout their careers and into retirement. This presentation will look at some of the financial challenges and opportunities that young people will face as they start their careers and offer some advice on how they might better "navigate" their way through fulfilling careers while maintaining financial stability.

Charles O'Connor has been a faculty member at Pacific University in the business department since 1985 and is currently a professor of accounting. In addition to teaching accounting, he has been responsible for teaching business finance, investments, and personal financial planning. He received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Northern Colorado and a graduate degree in accounting from the University of Iowa. He has been a certified public accountant for more than 30 years and has an active consulting practice that focuses on tax compliance, income tax planning, and retirement planning.

The Burlingham Lecture Series typically occurs the last Thursday of each month in the first floor lounge or conference room of Burlingham Hall. All are welcome to attend as Pacific University's distinguished professors present on the topics that excite them most.
