Nov 11, 2009 - Nov 13, 2009, 11:00 AM
UC Fireside Lounge

Help improve the lives of thousands of artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East by purchasing jewelry, home decor items, and gifts at this year's International Education Week Fair Trade Sale.

Ceramic Star Ornament Set, $8

November 11, 12 and 13, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The International Education Week Fair Trade Sale is co-sponsored by the Office of International Programs, the Pacific International Club, the Pacific Progressive Union, and the Center for Civic Engagement in cooperation with Ten Thousand Villages.

Ten Thousand Villages is one of the world's oldest and largest fair trade organizations. Ten Thousand Villages ensures a fair wage for artisans by purchasing completed crafts at a price that fairly compensates the workers involved in each aspect of production. In most cases, this price is set by the artisans and the organizations with which they work. Discussions with artisans about the length of time it takes to complete a product, the number of artisans involved to create a product, a comparison of local wages for similarly skilled professions and the local cost of living help determine a fair price.

Payment Methods: Cash, Checks, Debit Cards, American Express, Mastercard, & Discover -- no Visa credit cards, please.
