Mar 20, 2012, 7:00 PM
Taylor Auditorium

A collection of half-hour documentary shorts focused on different artist collectives around the Americas using culture as a tool for radical social transformation.

B Media Collective is a social justice video collective from Portland that uses documentary films, political remix videos, popular education and accessible skill-building workshops to catalyze collaborative work for social justice.

Art and Resistance Film Series: a collection of half-hour documentary shorts focused on different artist collectives around the Americas using culture as a tool for radical social transformation. From street musicians and hip-hop artists in Venezuela, to graffitti artists in Mexico, the mini-documentaries focus on how people are actively using their creativity to challenge the status quo and empower their communities. A discussion about the Latin American community media movement is interwoven with the screening, giving students a strong understanding of the different sorts of media making that happens around the Americas.
