Pacific Day of Service
Sep 15, 2012, 9:00 AMAn opportunity for students, faculty and staff to serve the community together
On Sept. 15, 2012, the Pacific University Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) will host a campuswide day of service.
The Pacific University Day of Service will bring students, faculty and staff together in service, reaffirming the civic mission of the university and serving our extended community of western Washington County.
This event will replace and build upon the “Sprucing Up the Grove” activity during orientation, with the Day of Service now timed so that returning students, faculty and staff can also participate. The day will include a variety of service activities in Forest Grove, Hillsboro and surrounding communities.
Invasive species will be removed and native species planted. Food and clothing will be sorted and packaged for distribution. Litter will be picked up from parks; school gardens will be prepared for the fall harvest so that children can learn about healthy eating. The Pacific Day of Service will reaffirm the close connection between campus and community and will have positive impacts throughout western Washington County.
You can find a list of projects and register to volunteer at pacificucce.wordpress.com. Registration closes September 9th.
