"The Contra War Legacy: Post-War Survivors and Their Struggle for Health and Well-Being," a slideshow by Paul Dix and Pam Fitzpatrick
Photographer Paul Dix worked in Nicaragua with Witness for Peace from 1985 to 1990 documenting the impacts of the Contra War on the citizens of Nicaragua. In 2002, he and Pam Fitzpatrick returned to Nicaragua to document the stories of 30 of those photographed by Paul, now recorded in their bilingual photograph testimonial album.
The stories shared by Nicaraguans traumatized by the Contra war illustrate the resiliency of the Nicaraguan people who reside in a country where the impossible becomes possible … but is never easy.
