Fashion Show: What Not to Wear

Feb 27, 2013, 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
UC Commons

Avoid being a cautionary tale of fashion faux pas when interviewing or attending recruiting events. This edgy fashion show will showcase what does and does not constitute professional attire. View quality professional clothing available at Garments to Go!

Pacific University English professor Darlene Pagan, will moderate the fashion show. Darlene started Garments To Go after witnessing her First Year Seminar students struggle to find suitable clothes to wear to the class’s accompanying formal events. The program offers students, campus employees and alumni the opportunity to borrow professional clothing for any situation that requires dress wear. All of the clothing is professionally laundered when they are new to the closet and after being loaned. The Garments to Go office is located in Bates house B6 with office hours Monday-Friday 2:30-4:30 and available by special arrangement. For more information, email garments2go@pacificu.edu

The upcoming First Avenue Career EXPO is a prime example of an event where professional dress is sometimes misunderstood. The Career Development Center--co-sponsors of the fashion show with Garments to Go--continue to see a growing need for students to dress professionally for recruiting events. The Career EXPO, held on Friday April 5th at University of Portland, is the only recruiting event the Career Center sponsors featuring employers showcasing full-time employment opportunities as well as graduate school recruiters available to meet individually with students. Contact the Career Center for more detail about recruiting events at careerdc@pacificu.edu or learn more about the First Avenue Career EXPO at http://www.olapcfirstavenue.org/.
