Tuesday, April 30, 2013

4 to 6 p.m.

Multi-Purpose Room of the

University Center / Washburne Hall

Please RSVP by April 19 to cce@pacificu.edu or 503-352-1571 with your name and the number of attendees.

Nominations are now being accepted for the following awards:

Student Impact Awards

Student Impact Awards celebrate the civic engagement accomplishments of students, and provide community partners and faculty with a way to publicly acknowledge the contributions of particular students.  Community partners may nominate students who have had a significant impact on their organization, and faculty may nominate students who have had a significant impact on campus through civic engagement.  Neither faculty nor community partners should feel obligated to nominate anyone. Faculty should note that this recognition is not the same as the Center for Civic Engagement Award given to a senior in May. Students nominated for Impact Awards may be in any program at Pacific and at any level (e.g. sophomores, graduate students). While as an institution we value all of the civic engagement work students do, these awards are intended to recognize particular contributions on an annual basis.

All students who are nominated will receive a certificate recognizing their nomination.  The Center for Civic Engagement Advisory Board will choose among those who are nominated to recognize 3-5 students at the Community Collaboration Celebration with a Student Impact Award.

Criteria for judging include:

The nomination form includes information about the student and their civic engagement work, as well as a short narrative (approximately 200 words/1500 characters max) describing the student’s civic engagement work and impact. Nomination forms are available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013StudentImpactAwardNomination and must be submitted by April 12, 2013.

Community Partner Awards

Community Partner Awards celebrate the important role that schools, non-profit organizations, and government agencies play in providing Pacific students with meaningful opportunities for experiential learning and civic engagement and publicly acknowledge their investment of time and resources in our collaboration.

Students, faculty, or staff may nominate partners for awards in one of the following categories:

While as an institution we value all of the many ongoing partnerships that we have, these awards are intended to recognize particular contributions on an annual basis.  Any given organization, supervisor, or program is not likely to receive the award more than one time in a five year period.

All partners who are nominated will receive a certificate recognizing their nomination.  The Center for Civic Engagement Advisory Board will choose among those who are nominated to recognize 3-4 partners at the Community Collaboration Celebration with a Community Partner Award.

Criteria for judging include:

The nomination form includes information about the supervisor, program, and/or organization, as well as a short narrative (approximately 200 words/1500 characters max) describing the partner’s work and how it supports community collaboration at Pacific University. Nomination forms are available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013CommunityPartnerAwardNomination and must be submitted by April 12, 2013.

Engaged Faculty Awards

Engaged Faculty Awards celebrate the faculty who facilitate civic engagement experiences and publicly acknowledge their investment of time and energy in this kind of teaching.  Students, staff, partners, or other faculty may nominate someone for an Engaged Faculty Award.  While as an institution we value all of the work faculty do for civic engagement, these awards are intended to recognize particular contributions on an annual basis.  Any given faculty member is not likely to receive an award more than one time in a five year period.

All faculty who are nominated will receive a certificate recognizing their nomination.  The Center for Civic Engagement Advisory Board will choose among those who are nominated to recognize 1-2 faculty members at the Community Collaboration Celebration with an Engaged Faculty Award.

Criteria for judging include:

Nomination forms are available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EngagedFacultyAwardNomination and must be submitted by April 12, 2013.
