A Workshop for Those Working With Youth
SERVING THE FULL SPECTRUM:
MEETING THE NEEDS OF LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDERED YOUTH
The goal of this workshop is to facilitate a learning environment in which all youth can thrive. This workshop explores issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth in our public schools and social institutions, and youth with LGBT parents. It combines presentation, discussion, group activities, a panel of counselors and a panel of LGBT parents and students with LGBT parents, all designed to give participants the tools to effectively support LGBT youth and those with LGBT parents. We will work on practicing skills such as how to respond when LGBT youth are targets of verbal or physical bullying in schools, designing inclusive classroom activities and working with parents.
The workshop will include presentations from PFLAG, TransActive, SMYRC, and education professors of Linfield and Pacific universities. This workshop is open to all who care about this issue in their children's schools and other social institutions.
The workshop is sponsored by Pacific University’s College of Education and Pacific’s Center for Gender Equity (CGE).

$20 registration fee (free to students and newly certified teachers – 3 years or fewer)
Lunch will be provided.
