Forest Grove Library Benefit Concert

Oct 19, 2013, 7:00 PM
McCready Hall, Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center

American roots songster, Lauren Sheehan, to perform with guest Mona Warner at Forest Grove Library benefit concert.

The Forest Grove Library will be holding a benefit concert to complete fundraising for an art project to be installed in the library's atrium next Spring. World-famous glass artist, Ed Carpenter, donated a piece to the library more than a decade ago in honor of his mother Molly Starbuck, a long-time library volunteer. The project was on hold during an expansion of the library. The skylight near the entryway will house Carpenter's work, but funding of nearly $50,000 is needed, of which about $30,000 has already been secured.

The library, with help from the Forest Grove Library Foundation, Friends of the Forest Grove Library and Forest Grove Library Commission, will host Carpenter’s wife, musician Lauren Sheehan, for a benefit concert in Pacific University’s McCready Hall.

In addition to supporting this great cause, attendees will hear Sheehan who has been described by Stephen D. Winick, Folklorist, Music Critic, and Editor of The Huffington Post, as “...a one-woman Americana jukebox... [with] fingerwork and sensitive singing, Piedmont picking...all sounds deceptively easy, which is a testament to [Lauren's] huge talent and hard work.”
