Grammy winners Wayne Toups, Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy are some of the most prominent and entertaining personalities in Cajun music, and are also incredibly talented musicians.
Each a musical success in their own contemporary Cajun bands, the trio is going out on the road as Courtbouillon, playing the music they grew up with and love. Drawn by the nostalgia for the music they grew up listening to, the trio performs Cajun folk songs as timeless to Cajuns as the Star-Spangled Banner is to much of America.
Wayne Toups leads his own band called Zydecajun which is an attempt to describe his distinctive fusion of French Cajun and Zydeco music. He has recorded songs with country music stars Alan Jackson, Clay Walker and Garth Brooks.
Steve Riley, of the band, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, is a widely acknowledged master of the Cajun accordion. That, combined with his searing, emotional vocals, songwriting, soulful fiddling and onstage front man charisma have led many to refer to the band simply as “Steve Riley.”
Wilson Savoy is the frontman and accordion master for the band, Pine Leaf Boys. He has toured the world with his band playing traditional Cajun and Creole music of Southwest Louisiana.
"It's all about the music!" Wayne said the first time Courtbouillon played together, in a bar appearance that lasted twice its scheduled time. The band has since recorded a 14-song album, filled with classics, as well as one original tune. They've dropped the drums that have become prominent in Cajun performances and gone back to their folk roots: the simple sounds of friends jamming together to familiar music.
