Pacific Media Guides Honored By CoSIDA, USA Volleyball

The 2007 Pacific Volleyball Guide was honored as "Best In The Nation," in the CoSIDA's Women's Volleyball Guides, Division C contest, which evaluated guides produced for publications at the NCAA Division III, NAIA and junior college levels.
Pacific's athletic media guides are honored as among the best in the nation this year in competitions conducted by both the College Sports Information Directors of America and USA Volleyball

GROVE - Pacific University's athletics media guides have once again
been honored as among the best publications of it's kind in the nation,
earning citations for excellence by both the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) and USA Volleyball.
The Pacific
Sports Information Office earned a total of seven awards in CoSIDA's
annual publications contest, including a pair of "Best In The Nation"
citations. The honors will be bestowed during the organization's annual
convention later this month in Tampa, Fla.
The 2007 Pacific
Volleyball Guide was honored as "Best In The Nation," in the CoSIDA's
Women's Volleyball Guides, Division C contest, which evaluated guides
produced for publications at the NCAA Division III, NAIA and junior
college levels.
In addition, USA Volleyball honored the guide
with its prestigious Viggo O. Nelson Collegiate Media Guide Award. The
honor recognized the media guide as the best in the nation from a
school with an enrollment of 5,000 students or less. Pacific was the
only school outside of the NCAA Division I level to be recognized by
the sport's national organizing body this year.
Pacific also
received "Best In The Nation" and "Best Cover" citations from CoSIDA
for the 2007-08 Pacific Swimming Media Guide. The competition involved
guides from the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and junior
college levels. It is the second time the Pacific swim guide has been
named "Best In The Nation," having first been so honored in 2005.
In
addition to the "Best In The Nation" honors, Pacific took second place
in CoSIDA's Women's Basketball Guides Division C contest, fourth place
in both the Men's Soccer Guides Division C and Softball Guides Division
C contests and sixth place in the Men's Basketball Guides Division C
contest.
Pacific's athletic media guides are designed, written
and produced by Pacific University Sports Information Director Blake
Timm. Jaime Valdez provided the action photography in the guides, which
were printed by Lasko Printing in Portland, operated by Pacific alumni
Derek and Tina Lasko.
In his nine years as Pacific's sports
information director, Timm has won a total of 22 publication awards
from CoSIDA, which includes five "Best In The Nation" citations. In
addition to the CoSIDA honors, both USA Volleyball and Amateur
Wrestling News have recognized Timm's publication work.
